Ho Chi Minh City - (Spring 2025) - Day 1

Nguyễn Huệ

We stayed in the Nguyễn Huệ area which was pretty much ideal for a first time visit. It is central to the hub bub with the city government office lit up book ending one end of the promenade and the Saigon River on the other end. It was close to the shopping and services and also an easy location to pick up rides.

Ben Nghe Food Court

So, I rarely say this about places but don’t go here. It is a place built for westerners and feels like it. It is kind of Vietnam-lite for people too intimidated to seek out any authenticity in the city. I was searching for a place that was within walking distance and a food court seemed like a good idea to go and grab a bite before turning in for the evening. The food was meh and was very much set up for tourists. At least the beer was cold.
