Singapore - (Spring 2025) - Day 5

Jewel Mall at Singapore Airport

We left the city early so that we could spend some time exploring the airport. The Jewel mall attached to the airport makes it a bit of a destination. The donut shaped building has a rainforest and waterfall as a centerpiece in the middle while shops and restaurants surround it on several levels. A wide variety of shops, restaurants, and services are available so you could spend a decent amount of time exploring the place.

I couldn’t resist having some more Hong Kong style roasted meat before leaving Singapore. This place is located among the many ring levels of the Jewel. I believe this is a more casual sister eatery of a fancier Peking duck restaurant. It was a perfect last lunch in Singapore.

Rain Vortex Waterfall (Jewel)

The main attraction here is the circular waterfall in the middle of the building that you can observe from different angles and different heights within the mall.

Singapore Airport

The airport itself has the usual high end shopping and amenities you would expect from a nicer airport. Their food hall is set up like a hawker center called Singapore Food Street with local foods available in a line of stalls. The airport also has some other amenities if you have the time like a butterfly garden and a movie theater.

*For a second I thought I found illicit gum in Singapore but they were actually just mints*

Butterfly Garden (Singapore Airport)

The butterfly garden at the airport is very pretty but it is also hot! The attraction is basically an outside enclosure so you are subject to the Singapore heat and humidity. The butterflies feed on trays of red flowers and pineapple slices arranged on trays throughout the garden. You walk through green chain drapes to enter and leave the facility which are there to keep the butterflies inside.
