Vahl’s

Alviso seems like a world away from Silicon Valley even though this place is just barely a mile off the highway. No traffic or big office buildings, just a small town melting into the marshland (try not to look at the Top Golf they built here while getting this vibe).

This place feels like going 50 years back in time with it’s old time decor.

The place now is a quiet neighborhood retreat. It’ no longer a proper restaurant but on weekends they will serve a small menu of offerings and the larger spaces are mainly for people renting it out of events.

Places like this have that certain mid-century charm that you don’t often find in the Bay Area since everything is relatively shiny and new.

There apparently is an older bar somewhere down in Morgan Hill but I would count this as the oldest bar in the area since The Mercury News gave it that title.
