Da Nang - (Spring 2025) - Day 4

Since you have to give the hotel your passport info when you check in, they knew it was my birthday and gave me a cake at breakfast. Cool place.

The hotels really are adamant about the no durians rule in Asia

Pigeon Houses

Unlike other cities, they really like their pigeons here. Along the beach, they have set up these large complexes of pigeon houses.

North End of Da Nang Beach

The lifeguards also use the traditional small round boats that the fishermen use

Even though there is much less traffic here than in Ho Chi Minh City, the traffic moves much faster

The same rules and methods apply here for crossing the street

Another Beach Day

We decided to enjoy another beach day. This time it was a spot further north on the beach, still well within walking distance from the hotel.

Hiru Sushi

Decided to cross the river at night and try some sushi. I was not expecting one of the better sushi meals I’ve ever had here. Everything was excellent. I think it was the first time I’ve had sea grapes in a salad. Of course, being in Vietnam, the meal was also astonishingly affordable.

Bar Do Yeu

After dinner we stayed on the city side and found this cocktail bar. The kids working here were delightful to talk to. We talked about the local cocktail scene and which ones were their favorite spots. The drink I ordered was made with the local liquor which was in that dragon shaped bottle. This was a fun little hangout.

Firebirds

We took a ride back to the beach side to check out a cocktail bar that bartenders had recommended. We came on a quiet night but you get the vibe that this place can get pretty lively. Nice creative cocktails in a funky environment.

Esco Beach

We walked back to the beach to have one last drink in Da Nang before leaving the next day. This is one of the clubby tourist bars right on the beach and I thought we were just going to have a quiet drink overlooking the beach. Little did we know that there was a fire show upcoming. I left to use the restroom and when I came back there were two people spinning balls of flame everywhere.

It was entertaining but our seats were a little too close to the fire for my comfort. I didn’t finish my drink because I’m pretty sure it was soaked with kerosene like the rest of the table. Quite the unexpected show to end the evening.
